Be A Volunteer At HELP
Bring Joy To Life
Volunteering at HELP has many faces. You’d be surprised to discover that people of a variety of ages and walks of life volunteer with us in the way that best suits them. Look over the suggestions below, and perhaps you will find the perfect fit or share with us a new idea.
The opportunities are endless...
Community Service Days for schools or faith groups, creating care bags for moms, hosting a table or volunteering at one of our events. Local High School Life Pro-Life Clubs also give their time periodically. The ideas are endless, and we are so thankful for your creativity. If you have an idea and would like to use your gifts and talents to support HELP’s mission, please give us a call or send us an email through our volunteer email form button below.
We are blessed to have a wonderful pool of volunteers at HELP. We can open our doors because of the active involvement of each of these dedicated individuals. Prayerfully consider supporting this particular community of women and babies by giving some of your time on a weekly basis to support LIFE. Here is a general description of the different areas where volunteers are needed the most.
Client Advocates
These women are trained to mentor the young women who face difficult circumstances and are in need of guidance.
Bilingual Advocates
These women can counsel the Spanish-speaking clients on a one-on-one basis after receiving training, or will assist a trained client advocate with translations.
Receptionist
Individuals who enjoy greeting the public, taking on general office tasks such as copying, filing, sorting forms, as well as setting up new appointments for our clients.
Clothing Sorters
Sort and Style Team. This special group of women like to do the “behind the scene” kind of jobs. Some wash and sort the material goods that come into the center, while others enjoy stocking the Loving Arms Boutique, or creating layettes to be offered to the mothers of newborns.
Sewing
HELP’s own sewing group is always filling in the gaps where our donations may fall short. Whether it’s layette bags, blankets, bibs, or burp cloths – you name it, and they will create it. This group of talented ladies would love to have you join them once a month in the Wright Connection at HELP. The monthly Saturday meeting is a time to share materials, ideas and fellowship, and, of course – lunch! Can’t meet on Saturdays? Sew at home or donate materials, thread, and elastic or gift card to fabric stores. For more information about ‘Stitches in time’, call us at 616.459.9139.
Off Site Opportunities
We have also had many generous donors come up with unique ways to offer their time at home in a variety of ways in order that they can make a donation to us. Some of these include hosting a direct sales party in which the proceeds are offered to HELP, gathering gently used baby items from their acquaintances to drop off, collecting diapers in a diaper drive…perhaps these ideas can help spark a few creative ideas of your own!
Please give us a call at HELP if you have interest in helping with any of the positions listed above or are interested in any one of the additional positions listed below:
- Meal Train for new moms
- Internships
- Photographer
- Creating “Mom bags”

See Why Our Donors Give
This is one of my favorite places to donate. They are polite and friendly, and will take some baby things that thrift shops won’t accept. Call before you go, and check first.
This is a wonderful place to go if you need help with clothes, food, diapers, soaps, wipes, and some baby furniture. If you have children under 2 please come in and see us. If you would like to volunteer please come in and ask.
This place is such a help to mommies and babies! They have the most wonderful staff that treat you with respect and dignity. You feel loved and safe when you are in this place. They really have so many ways they can assist you if not them they have info on the resources you may need. They truly care about you. They are willing to give insite and educate you.
